The little brown-and-white kitten with a seriously catchy song.

Started with a kitten, a pink ball of wool and a 4-year-old's imagination.

The story behind Snuggles

Snuggles began the way most Playroom Pop songs do: on the floor, mid-play, with a running commentary nobody asked for. A small brown-and-white kitten, a pink ball of wool, and a four-year-old narrating exactly what the kitten was thinking about all of it.

The words in the song are hers. My job was to catch them before they disappeared — writing down phrases while she played, asking what happened next, and keeping the bits that made her laugh rather than the bits that scanned neatly.

Then we built it together. She chose the feel of it, decided which version sounded most like Snuggles, and told me firmly when something was wrong. The technology helped us finish it; the idea was hers from the very first sentence.

Meet Snuggles the kitten

A small brown-and-white toy kitten with an endless supply of pink wool and no interest whatsoever in tidying up. In our house Snuggles gets carried everywhere, has strong opinions, and is generally treated as a full member of the family.

A song built around her favourite flamingo toy, complete with the wonderfully mispronounced words she uses at four years old.
